Proving Technological Prowess
LG Electronics announced on June 1 that it has signed a patent licensing agreement with Millet of Germany, a leading European home appliance maker, in addition to GE Appliance of the United States.
Under the deal, Millet will produce and sell robot vacuum cleaners based on LG Electronics' patented technology. The contract involves LG Electronics' three proprietary technologies applied to robot vacuum cleaners. They include a technology that guides a robot cleaner to a charging station after cleaning for automatic charging.
In addition, the contract will cover patents related to the detection of the filter that is combined into the dust can and the coupling of the lower brush. LG Electronics has more than 700 registered patents for robot vacuum cleaners.
In June 2019, LG Electronics signed a patent licensing agreement with GE Appliance regarding door ice-making, a key patent for ice water purifiers/refrigerators. LG Electronics has 400 globally registered patents on door ice-making technology.
