The World’s First Council on AI-related Issues

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on June 1 that South Korea has become a founding member of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI).

The GPAI is the world’s first council on AI-related issues. Preparations have been led by France and Canada, which are planning to launch it within this month. Eight countries, including Britain, Germany and Japan, have expressed their will to join as founding members.

Once launched, the GPAI will discuss those issues based on the OECD Recommendation on AI. Former Science and ICT Vice Minister Min Won-ki led the preparation of the recommendation while chairing the Committee for Digital Economy Policy and the AI Expert Group of the OECD.
