Team Korea Seeking to Participate in Turkish Railway Project

Korea Rail Network Authority and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of Turkey had a video conference on May 28 to discuss mutual cooperation for the Halkali-Gebze Express Railway Project. The conference was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Hyundai Engineering and Construction, GS Engineering & Construction, SK Telecom, KIND and Hyundai Rotem.

Korea Rail Network Authority expressed its strong will to take part in the project and explained how the consortium member companies have prepared. In return, the Turkish ministry expressed gratitude and said that it would make efforts so that South Korea and Turkey can work more closely with each other in the railroad industry.

At the meeting, the consortium members confirmed the Turkish government’s various measures for the project, including ordering plans, private investment models, investment guarantee, exchange risk hedging and incentives. Earlier, Turkish delegates visited South Korea in September last year to confirm the excellence of South Korea’s high-speed railway technology and discuss South Korea’s participation in the project.
