An Ad Shows an Old Pervert Filming Young Woman Secretly

An ad video for LG Electronics V60 ThinQ smartphone, which was posted by the company’s Polish subsidiary on its TikTok account on May 22 (local time), shows an old man secretly photographing a woman walking up a staircase.

A video clip of a smartphone advertisement posted by LG Electronics' Polish subsidiary on social networking services has sparked off controversy over illegal video shoots. The video in question has now been deleted.

LG Electronics Poland recently posted a video on its official TikTok page that promotes the functions of the LG V60 ThinQ and its accessory dual screen device.

The video shows an elderly man secretly filming the back of a woman climbing a stairway using his Dual Screen device. The man forgets to turn off the shutter sound, causing the woman to turn around and take his cell phone away. She swipes right but only finds selfies. She apologizes and returns the device. The pervert then swipes left to reveal several photos of her skirt.

Consumers who watched the video in question say that the video is inappropriate in that it uses a criminal act to promote a smartphone function.

"The video, which depicts a creepy old pervert using his Dual Screen device to take inappropriate photos of a young woman without her consent, has been viewed more than two million times," said U.S. IT media Phone Arena.

“International companies now avoid anything that could be deemed remotely sexist or perverted, as they should, and that is exactly why the latest social media post by LG Electronics is especially surprising," the article said.

Following the report, LG Electronics issued an apology for the video. “A recent video posted by LG Poland failed to follow the proper approval process for social media content. It did not live up to the standards and policy of LG Electronics and was immediately removed. We apologize for any offense this ill-conceived video may have caused. We will strive to prevent such an occurrence from happening again in the future,” it said.
