A Smart Safety System for Power Plants
Korea Southern Power will apply artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G mobile communication technologies to power plant safety management.
The power company announced on May 19 that it has recently signed a business agreement with the National Information Society Agency, Innotree, and Visionin to upgrade power plant safety management system based on AI and 5G.
The company said that the upgraded safety management system will reduce risk factors at power plants and allow officials to respond quickly to emergencies such as fires or equipment failures.
The company plans to build the new safety management system by the end of this year. The smart system will detect anomalies and monitor work at dangerous sites by using big data analysis technology and deep learning-based image recognition technology.
Korea Southern Power said it will become the first power company to introduce 5G technology to plant safety management.
