AOS-α Automatically Estimates Car Repair Costs
Nine South Korean property insurance companies began to use AOS-α on May 6 for damage assessment incorporating AI-based car repair cost calculation. In addition, three others are working on related systems for the same purpose.
AOS-α is to automatically calculate estimated car repair costs by artificial intelligence checking pictures of an accident vehicle and discerning damaged parts, the degree of damage, etc.
The nine property insurance companies are expected to be able to enhance the accuracy of their assessment by referring to the estimated costs. The companies are planning to use the system in relation to accidents limited to exterior parts. When an auto repair shop uses the AOS-α camera, provision of vehicle and insurance information and data required for repair and insurance procedures can be carried out automatically.
In addition, pictures of an accident vehicle taken by app at a repair shop can be automatically transmitted to a server for insurance claim and various types of manual work such as license plate number input can be automated. Customer notification on estimated repair costs and insurance payment can be expedited along with payment to repair shops.
