Fast-track Entry into China for Businesspeople

The South Korean and Chinese governments are planning to implement simplified entry procedures for both countries’ entrepreneurs on May 1. Initially, the procedures will be applied to South Korea and the 10 Chinese regions of Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shanxi, Sichuan and Anhui.

The simplified entry procedures include a request from a South Korean company in China and an invitation from a corresponding Chinese local government. A South Korean entrepreneur visiting China must follow special quarantine procedures before departure and after arrival. Specifically, he or she must undergo a COVID-19 test and receive a health status report within 72 hours before departure and must undergo another test, under a couple of days of quarantine, after arrival. His or her movement in China is permitted when both tests turn out negative.

As for a Chinese entrepreneur visiting South Korea, a COVID-19 test conducted and a similar health status report issued within 72 hours before departure are required and, after arrival, he or she can do business activities based on another negative test result and in accordance with the active monitoring procedures of the South Korean government.
