K im Yu-na will continue to receive a sponsorship from Korean Air. Kim won the gold medal at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games earlier this year. The airliner runs an Excellence Program which sponsors people who enhance the image of Korea by displaying excellent capabilities in sport, culture and art.

On April 12, Cho Yang-ho, chairman of the Hanjin Group, the parent group of Korean Air, delivered a certificate of sponsorship to Kim during a ceremony at its headquarters building in Gonghang-dong, Seoul. Chairman Cho is also the co-chairman of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games Bid Committee. “I feel happy for Kim as she gave lots of joy to the Korean people with a great achievement in the Olympic Games with support from Korean Air,” Chairman Cho said. Adding, “I hope that Kim will continue to be a great athlete and one who gives hope and courage to the Korean people.”

This extension of sponsorship will give Kim free first-class seats and five people, including her parents and coaching staff, free prestige seats when they fly overseas for training and competitions, until March 2011.

Korean Air has been sponsoring Kim since April 2009. Korean Air decided to continue to support the figure skating queen so that she will be able to perform brilliantly on the world stage and contribute to Korea’s hosting of the winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
