Korea East-West Power announced on April 23 that it has donated COVID-19 diagnostic equipment and test kits worth US$190,000 to the Jamaican Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) Foundation.

Korea East-West Power owns a 40 percent stake in JPS.

Korea East-West Power signed an agreement with the Korean Embassy in Jamaica and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Jamaica to donate two pieces of molecular diagnostic equipment, COVID-19 diagnostic kits, and ribonucleic acid (RNA) extraction kits.

The diagnostic equipment and test kits are produced by Kogene Biotech, a Korean medical equipment manufacturer that have been approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to export its products. They can be used for 5,000 tests.

Korea East-West Power plans to set up photovoltaic power generation facilities at elementary schools in Jamaica in 2021 and provide scholarships to college students in 2022.
