Recognized for Expertise in LNG Liquefaction Plant Projects

Tangguh LNG Train 3 plant construction site in Indonesia

Daewoo Engineering & Construction has entered the Indonesian LNG liquefaction plant market by signing a contract for Tangguh Expansion Ph2 on April 22.

Tangguh Expansion Ph2 is a part of the Tangguh LNG Train 3 liquefaction plant construction project in Bintuni Bay, Papua Barat and is piping work with a size of US$50 million. Tangguh LNG Train 3 is to build one LNG train for an annual LNG production of 3.8 million tons. At present, CSTS JO (Chiyoda, Saipem, PT.Tripatra, PT.SAE) is conducting EPC work.

Although Daewoo E&C’s contract is not very large in size, it is meaningful enough for the company that entered the Indonesian LNG liquefaction plant market for the first time. Main contractor Saipem made an urgent request for its participation so that the project can proceed smoothly.

About 90 LNG liquefaction plants are currently in operation around the world, including 10 built by Daewoo E&C. The company and Saipem have collaborated in LNG Train 7 in Nigeria, LNG Area1 in Mozambique, and many more. They signed a private contract for Tangguh Expansion Ph2 based on Saipem’s trust in the technological strength of Daewoo E&C.
