Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai Motor and Toyota Models

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport told Mercedes-Benz Korea, Hyundai Motor Group and Toyota Korea to recall 44,967 cars.

The vehicles include 8,163 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which are divided into the 12 models including GLK 220 CDI 4MATIC. The vehicles have Takata airbags and drivers may be injured by the excessive inflation pressure of the airbags and the resultant metal fragments.

Also recalled are three Hyundai models (25,113 vehicles), including Sonata DN8, and 3,758 K5 DL3s of Kia Motors. The cars’ remote smart parking assistance software may malfunction to lead to a braking failure during automatic parking.

In addition, 3,247 Genesis GV80s have a potential software error to affect lane change assist. This is a violation of vehicle safety standards and the ministry is planning to impose a fine depending on the progress of the recall.

Three Toyota models (979 vehicles) and 20 Lexus models (3,707 vehicles), including RX450h, are scheduled to be recalled for the possibility of stalling attributable to fuel pump impeller malfunction.
