Employee at Samsung Electronics America Tests Positive for COVID-19

Multiple news outlets have reported that an employee at the semiconductor manufacturing plant of Samsung Electronics located in Austin, Texas tested positive for COVID-19 on March 28.

The employee has stayed home since March 13 after showing symptoms and the plant is in normal operation. “We have taken measures in accordance with the guidelines of the U.S. public health authorities and normal production activities are going on,” Samsung Electronics explained.

At present, approximately 3,000 executives and staff members of Samsung Electronics and about 7,000 partner firm employees are working at the plant, which is mainly for foundry production.
