As the Russian government declared an emergency holiday to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have shut down their plants in Russia.
Samsung Electronics’ TV factories and LG Electronics' home appliances and TV factories in Russia will stop running from March 30 through April 5.
LG Electronics will also shutter its TV and air conditioner plant in Manaus, Brazil by April 3 as a precaution. The company previously decided to lock down its washing machine plant in Tennessee, the United States by April 12 and its auto parts plant in Detroit by April 14.
In addition, the company will suspend the operation of its two Indian factories until April 14 in compliance with the Indian government’s administrative order. The company’s TV factory in Poland resumed normal operation from March 30 after a production cut last week.
Samsung Electronics has also ceased operations of factories in Brazil and India, and closed production plants for TV and home appliances in Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary since last week.
