In Compliance with 'Stay-at-home' Order

LG Chem's battery factory in Holland, Michigan

LG Chem has stopped operating its U.S. battery plant in the wake of the spread of the new coronavirus.

The company’s battery plant in Holland, Michigan, will be closed until April 13.

"We are putting a minimum number of people into operation in compliance with the government's administrative order," an LG Chem official explained.

Earlier, on March 23 (local time), the Michigan state government issued a “stay-at-home” administrative order, telling Michigan residents to stay home except for essential purposes for three weeks. As a result, most factories in the region have been locked down.

LG Chem's other overseas production bases including those in Poland and China are now operating normally.
