Hardware Failure

In relation with the US mobile carrier Verizon Wireless revealing problems with the Galaxy S5 camera, Samsung Electronics announced on April 27 that that only a small number of cameras did not work.

Verizon Wireless tweeted on April 25 (local time): “Galaxy S5 customers who see “Warning: Camera Failed” please contact @VZWsupport & we’ll work to resolve it, including replacing the device.”

In response, a Samsung spokesperson said, “We have learned that a limited number of Galaxy S5 devices may have an issue that causes a ‘Camera Failure’ pop-up error message. We have already taken a measure.”

The official added, “This was caused by problems with ROM, where information necessary to operate the camera is stored,” adding, “After recognizing problems and closely analyzing how many faulty parts were used and how they were produced, we have confirmed that a very limited number of products have the potential to have problems.”

Samsung’s new flagship smartphone was recently touted as the best Galaxy smartphone by US-based Consumer Reports. The function of the Galaxy S5’s camera was also well received by IT news sites Stuff and CNET.
