Samsung Display and LG Group will dispatch officials to Vietnam by a charter plane. They are sending key personnel to make sure that the production of smartphones and household appliances are not disrupted. The Vietnamese government, which is restricting entry from South Korea, will reportedly ease the regulations for Samsung and LG employees.

Samsung Display will send more than 180 engineers to Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh Province of Vietnam on March 28 by an Asiana Airlines charter plane. Samsung engineers are planning to remodel the production lines for flexible organic light emitting diode (OLED) modules for smartphones, which will be released in the second half of this year. They will stay aloof from other employees at the local factory. Samsung Display also dispatched 186 engineers to the factory on March 13. The company plans a third business trip next month as it originally planned to dispatch some 700 officials.

LG Group will also send more than 250 employees from LG Display, LG Electronics, LG Innotek and partner companies to its plants in Vietnam by an Asiana Airlines charter plane on March 30.

The large-scale dispatch of Samsung and LG employees was made possible by the Vietnamese government’s willingness to ease restrictions on entry from South Korea. The Vietnamese government has decided to quarantine all immigrants at military facilities for 14 days since March 21 and virtually no Koreans have been allowed to enter the nation.

Meanwhile, LG Display will also dispatch key officials to its OLED plant in Guangzhou, China, using a charter flight on March 26.
