In Partnership with PoteNit of the U.S.

LG Uplus has signed an MOU with PoteNit to cooperate in the smart port logistics automation business based on 5G communications.

LG Uplus announced on March 10 that it has signed an MOU with PoteNit, a company based in San Jose, the United States, that specialize in autonomous mobility applications, to cooperate in the smart port logistics automation business based on 5G communications.

The partnership is centered on logistics automation, one of the key elements of 5G smart ports. PoteNit will develop solutions that combine its unmanned and automated logistics technology with LG Uplus' 5G technology and jointly promote smart port projects with the mobile carrier.

Specifically, they will promote the advancement of autonomous driving technology based on 5G unmanned facilities, interworking with unmanned facilities and 5G network infrastructure, the establishment of a control system based on mobile edge computing (MEC), and remote control of unmanned facilities based on ultra-low-latency video transmission technology.

The two companies plan to complete product planning in the first half of this year and develop service scenarios based on an analysis of logistics facilities and environments in the second half.

If logistics automation is commercialized through this cooperation, containers can be transported autonomously in a port, and the control center can carry out monitoring and remote control by a small number of personnel.
