Renault Samsung Motors has decided to recall its SM5 mid-size sedan owing to problems with the cable connector fin of the model.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on April 21, this voluntary recall is attributable to the possibility that the engine can switch off because of bad contact inside the connector, which connects the ignition coil cable and engine cable. The recall involves 161,700 vehicles manufactured between Oct. 28, 2009 and May 2, 2013. All owners of the subject vehicle can get repairs free of charge at Renault Samsung Motors’ service centers and repair centers of its partner company starting on April 28.
