Award-winning Tires

Majesty 9 Solus TA91 (Majesty 9)

Kumho Tire announced on Feb. 25 that its three tire products have been selected as winners in the transportation design category of the 2019 Good Design Awards.

The Good Design Awards began in 1950 and is recognized worldwide for its long tradition and special authority. The winners are chosen by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. It features a comprehensive evaluation of products, including aesthetics, innovation, new technologies, concepts, functions, energy efficiency, and eco-friendliness.

This year, Kumho Tire picked up three prizes, and the award-winning products were “Majesty 9 Solus TA91 (Majesty 9),” “ECSTA PA51” and “WinterCraft Wi51.”

Majesty 9 is the successor to Majesty Solus and is a high-performance premium product that enhances riding comfort and quietness. Kumho Tire improved its safety and durability by enhancing wear performance and braking power on snowy roads, and reduced noise by applying optimal pattern block arrangement and sound harmony technology. In addition, its sidewall has a hologram decoration that changes appearance according to angles of light, and its tread has a sophisticated design that combines regular geometric patterns with modern curved designs.

ECSTA PA51

“ECSTA PA51” is a four-season tire for North America that combines sports and comfort performance. Its sidewall has been designed to give dynamic feel by applying a racing flag shape, and the asymmetric design is applied to the tread to induce water discharge in four directions to increase drainage and mileage performance. Differentiated groove depth elevates noise and grip performance.

Wintercraft Wi51

Wintercraft Wi51 is a European winter tire that shows its best performance on snowy and frozen roads. Its latest compound technology improves traction and braking performance on snowy and frozen roads. In addition, a new structural design was applied to improve its performance along with an optimized directional pattern design based on trends in the European market. Its high rigidity center rib design was applied for safety while driving at high speeds, and the length and width of its center grounding were improved by a new structural design.

Kumho Tire’s Majesty 9 and WinterCraft Wi51 also won prizes in the transportation equipment category of the iF Design Award 2020 of Germany.
