An Antibacterial Steel Sheet
As the COVID-19 virus is threatening public health around the world, an antibacterial colored steel sheet from Dongkuk Steel is garnering much attention.
Dongkuk Steel said on Feb. 24 that its Luxteel Bio is a color steel plate with strong sterilization and antimicrobial effects. The steelmaker used special metal ceramic antibacterial agent and special additives to suppress the growth of bacteria, viruses and fungi on the product. Luxteel Bio is a premium product effective against such bacteria as Escherichia coli 0157, staphylococcus aureus and green mold. It also has antifungal and deodorization functions and is harmless to humans.
Luxteel Bio consists of two groups. One is Bio Microban, which is certified by Microban, the world's No. 1 antimicrobial solution company, and the other is Bio Premium certified by FITI, a Korean antimicrobial certification agency.
Dongkuk Steel has signed an exclusive license agreement with Microban. Accordingly, Dongkuk Steel is the only company in Korea that can use Microban antimicrobial additives on color steel plates.
Luxteel Bio is widely applied as interior and exterior materials for spaces close to people’s lives or bacteria-sensitive spots and places such as operating rooms, pharmaceutical companies, medical refrigerators, nursing hospitals, food factories, semiconductor plants, showcases, commercial refrigerators, and food transport vehicles. Special treatments can enable production of not only monochromatic color steel plates but also various types of printed and three-dimensional textured color steel sheets and various designs of the product.
In addition, the product is exported to tropical countries or countries with much moisture such as Thailand, Latin America and Australia. It also passed the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS for its export.
