KT announced on Feb. 20 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on making Korea a global AI powerhouse and launching an AI development team with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, the KAIST, Hanyang University, Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), and Korea's AI.

They are planning to take the lead in turning Korea a worldwide leader in AI by building a human resources development platform, discovering and spreading AI+X application cases, creating an AI open ecosystem, and setting up an alliance office among others.

KT will place its top priority on securing AI talent so build a talent development platform with the KAIST, Hanyang University, and the ETRI. First, it will jointly build an AI education platform for AI practice and development.

KT will also build a platform connecting the supply of AI talent. It plans to provide opportunities for AI talent to work at companies that need them through the platform.
