In the Discipline of Communication

Daewoo E&C's apartment brand Prugio is a winner of this year's iF Design Award.

Daewoo Engineering & Communication (Daewoo E&C) announced on Feb. 10 that its apartment brand “Prugio” was a winner of this year’s iF Design Award, the world-renowned design prize.

The Korean builder won an iF award in the Communication discipline’s Corporate Identity/Branding category.

“Prugio, an eco-friendly Korean apartment brand, rebranded itself so that consumers could perceive it as a sophisticated brand and an upscale living environment,” the organizer of the design award commented. Unlike other brands focusing on superficial luxury, Prugio wanted to create a fundamentally premium environment based on the concept of “Intrinsic Life” where each person could live in an apartment built to serve its intrinsic purpose - a home, it added.

The iF Design Award began in 1953 and is recognized as one of the world's three major design award programs along with the Red Dot Design Awards in Germany and the IDEA Design Awards in the United States. This year, a total of 7,298 entries from 56 countries around the world competed and the winners were decided by an 78-member jury, made up independent experts from about 20 countries. Winners are selected in seven disciplines including product, communication, packaging, interior architecture, professional concept, service design and architecture.

All of the award winners will be showcased during the iF Design Award Night at the Friedrichstadt-Palast Art Theater in Berlin, Germany, on May 4, 2020.

Daewoo E&C took home a prize at the Good Design Award 2019 in Korea.
