Samsung Electronics has taken over a 5G network design and optimization company in the United States to expand its 5G business.

The Korean technology company announced on Jan. 14 that it has signed an acquisition agreement with TeleWorld Solutions, a 5G and 4G LTE network design and optimization company in the United States. TeleWorld Solutions specializes in providing differentiated services such as network design, optimization, and field tests to major U.S. mobile operators and cable broadcasters.

Samsung acquires the company to penetrate the North American market more aggressively. It is already supplying 5G equipment to U.S. mobile carriers -- Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. A combination of Samsung Electronics’ 5G hardware and TeleWorld Solutions services will make the Korean company more competitive in the U.S. telecom equipment market.

“Samsung Electronics is supplying 5G and 4G communication equipment to Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint as it has won recognition for its strong technology and business capabilities in the United States, a leading mobile communication market,” said Jeon Gyeong-hoon, vice president of the Network Business Division at Samsung Electronics. “We will step up our efforts to expand our presence in global markets including the U.S.”
