LG Uplus announced on Jan. 12 that it has officially forged a partnership with Google in the field of augmented reality (AR) content at CES 2020 in Las Vegas.

The two companies will immediately establish a joint AR content fund to collaborate in AR content creation and global distribution.

LG Uplus is planning to extend its successful experience in virtual reality (VR) content to the AR sector through the partnership with Google. It will actively promote a global supply of AR content produced with Google and take the lead in the global 5G communication market based on immersive content.

LG Uplus plans to allow customers to enjoy co-produced 3D AR content in one single place. Google will provide services regardless of carriers and handset manufacturers around the world through Google search services. Various animations and sound effects, which are difficult to provide via Google search services, will be provided through LG Uplus services.
