To Launch New Services, Enhance Work Efficiency

The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) will use Kakao's artificial intelligence (AI) technology to launch new services and enhance work efficiency.

Kakao Enterprise, Kakao’s subsidiary in the AI industry, announced on Jan. 9 that it would sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) on Jan 10. The purpose of the MOU is to provide KIPO with Kakao Enterprise’s AI technology so that new services can be launched and work efficiency can be enhanced in the patent field.

Specifically, the technology is the translation engine of Kakao i for multilingual translation. The KIPO is going to employ the technology in extracting keywords and comparing and analyzing similar patent documents in patent examination processes. Kakao’s natural language processing technology is expected to be utilized for patent document translation during the processes.

In addition, Kakao Enterprise is planning to set up a patent-related search system by using its AI technology for search, chatbot operation, and so on and provide chatbot services and consulting services.
