Samsung Electronics sold 6.7 million 5G smartphones last year, accounting for 53.9 percent of the global 5G smartphone market.

Samsung Electronics sold 6.7 million 5G smartphones last year, accounting for 53.9 percent of the global 5G smartphone market. One out of two 5G smartphones in the world is Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy.

Samsung Electronics said through its global news room on Jan. 3 that 6.7 million units of the Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10 series, Galaxy A90 5G and Galaxy Fold were sold worldwide last year. Samsung launched the world's first 5G phone, the Galaxy S10 5G, in April last year, opening the era of 5G smartphones. Samsung released the Galaxy Note 10 in August and the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy A90 in September.

A market research company Counterpoint Research estimated that Samsung Electronics accounted for 53.9 percent of the global 5G smartphone market as of November last year. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics announced that it will release the Galaxy Tab S6 5G, the world's first 5G tablet in the first quarter of this year.
