LG Electronics announced on Dec. 18 that it will launch “Proactive Service,” a system for proactive management of home appliances controlled by artificial intelligence (AI), in the United States in March next year.
The new service is for management of five products from LG Electronics, including washing machines, refrigerators and ovens.
This service is based on a system that learns customers’ product use patterns through IoT and big data-based AI technology and provides them with information on the state of the products and management tips through the LG ThinQ application, email or text messages.
This service is possible because sensors inside home appliances monitor product state in real time and send data to cloud servers via wireless internet services for real-time analysis. The state of products is optimally managed through a cloud server. It can also detect failures in advance and inform users of them by analyzing products’ operation.
