CJ Group announced on Dec. 2 that the group’s chairman Sohn Kyung-shik and key executives have met with Liu Jiayi, Communist Party secretary of China’s Shandong Province to discuss ways to promote mutual cooperation.

At the meeting held at the CJ Human Resources Center in Pildong, Jung-gu, Seoul on Dec. 2, CJ Group introduced its core businesses in China including food, logistics, biotech and CGV movie theaters. Liu in turn introduced the investment environment of Shandong Province and incentives for investment offered by the provincial government. The two sides then discussed ways to find new business opportunities.

Sohn said that CJ is currently engaged in diverse businesses such as biotech, food, logistics, and CGV media in Shandong Province, which is a crucial region for CJ’s expansion in China. “We will do our best to contribute to developing the local economy of Shandong Province based on the support from and cooperation with the provincial government,” Sohn said.

In response, Liu said, “China will do everything to attain a win-win result in our strategic partnership with CJ Group, which consistently expands its influence in the global market as well as in China.”
