Daum Communication revealed on March 27 that Buzz Launcher, launched by their subsidiary, topped the “Personalization” category in Google Play domestically, after being crowned in Google Play Japan.

Buzz Launcher, now being sered in the global market in 14 languages, is a home screen and launcher application for Android smartphones, where user-created home screens can be shared. It passed 6 million cumulative downloads this month. 

Its overseas users account for some 60% of the total, and up to now, a total of 350,000 “homepacks”, or customized home screens, have been created. Also, 4,500 downloads were tallied overseas.

The next plan is to introduce a variety of homepacks to cater to Buzz Launcher users on the back of snatching the number one spot in Korea and Japan.

After that, analysis of the user patterns and feedback will be conducted, to be followed by adding affiliated homepacks and functions that are preferred by most users.

Earlier, Buzzpia, together with Yahoo Japan, introduced “Buzz Home” in Google Play Japan, a launcher service customized for the Japanese market.

Buzz Home enjoyed soaring popularity after its debut, becoming the number one free personalization app in Google Play Japan, where Buzz Home Widget also is ranking fourth.
