Samsung Electronics’ two Galaxy Tab Pro models became the top-ranked tablet models, outshining Apple’s iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display, according to a U.S.-based consumer magazine.

Consumer Reports announced on March 24 that the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 ranked first among Wi-Fi-based 9 to 12-inch models, and the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 became the top-ranked tablet among Wi-Fi-based 7 to 8-inch models.

The Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 was rated excellent in terms of portability, resolution, versatility, and performance, and very good in convenience, which earned the device 90 points. This is the first time for the magazine to give 90 points to a tablet PC.

Apple’s iPad Air, on the other hand, was rated excellent in portability, convenience, resolution, and performance, but only good in versatility. As a result, the iPad Air got 85 points, which put the device in fourth place.

The Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 was also rated excellent in portability, resolution, versatility, and performance, getting 87 points.

Meanwhile, the iPad mini with Retina display was rated the same as the iPad Air, getting 83 points, and thus lagging behind its rival Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 in rankings.
