SPC Group announced on Nov. 5 that it has become the first Korean company to win the "Best Partner of the Year" Prize of the Global Restaurant Leadership Conference (GRLC). An award ceremony was held at Singapore Marina Bay Sands Hotel on Nov. 5.

The GRLC is the largest conference in the global food and beverage sector. In the GRLC, CEOs of global food companies and academic and industry experts meet one another to discuss the development of the food service industry and build their networks. The event has been held every year since 2016. About 1,200 experts from around the world participated in this year’s event, which was sponsored by the Singapore Tourism Board.

The GRLC selects and awards outstanding food and beverage companies in four categories -- partnership, growth, innovation, and community services. A global panel consisting of CEOs of food and beverage companies and academic experts from around the world selects winners through a rigorous screening of candidates. The world's leading food and beverage companies have won awards, including Starbucks (2016), Jollibee (2017) and Costa Coffee (2018).

The prize in the partnership category is given to companies with outstanding achievements in global expansion and localization. SPC Group has completed the construction of a Tianjin plant in China, expanded its franchise business, successfully entered major commercial areas in the United States, and opened shops of four SPC brands in Jewel Changyi Airport in Singapore and established a joint venture in Cambodia. These achievements earned SPC Group the honor.

Meanwhile, the group operates more than 400 overseas stores in five countries -- the United States, China, France, Singapore, and Vietnam. Recently, it laid the foundation for the expansion of its market shares in the Southeast Asian market by setting up a joint venture with a local company in Cambodia.
