Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) is holding an international conference on nuclear power technology in Gyeongju in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the CANDU Owners Group (COG).

The conference, which kicked off at Hwangryong-won in Gyeongju on Nov. 4, is attended by about 80 nuclear power experts from six countries -- Romania, Canada, China, Pakistan, Argentina and India -- as well as IAEA and COG.

At this conference, the participants will share their experiences in eight areas including safety culture, facility improvement, and equipment reliability. In particular, they will share the latest information on the operation and maintenance of heavy water reactors and safety programs of international organizations and groups such as the IAEA and the COG.

From KHNP, in-house experts in various fields participate in the conference. They are specialists in facility improvement, accident management plans, emergency operation guides and the development of expanded defense operation guidelines for heavy water reactors. They plan to share about 40 years of their experience and knowhow in nuclear plant operation with the global nuclear power industry.
