Korea-France Tech for Good Summit 2019 Slated for Nov. in Seoul

SMEs and Startups Minister Park Young-sun met with Cédric O, Secretary of State for the Digital Economy of France, in Seoul on Nov. 5 to discuss the two countries’ startup- and smart manufacturing-related policies and seek further cooperation in those fields.

At present, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is helping South Korean startups enter France via business accelerators. In addition, the two countries are working closely with each other in the startup field by, for example, raising a venture fund together.

Also, the ComeUp 2019 global startup festival, which takes place from Nov. 27 to 29 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, is scheduled to come with Korea-France Tech for Good Summit 2019 for more exchange between South Korean and French startups.

When it comes to bilateral cooperation in the field of smart manufacturing, the minister introduced the South Korean government’s smart manufacturing innovation policy, data center construction policy, and so on and proposed to expand their bilateral cooperation to artificial intelligence, manufacturing data, and many other smart manufacturing industry segments.

The French secretary was born in France to a Korean father and a French mother. He is the third Korean-French secretary of France.
