Bidding for Asiana Airlines

Aekyung Group and Stonebridge Capital have formed a consortium to take over Asiana Airlines

Aekyung Group and Stonebridge Capital have formed a consortium to take over Asiana Airlines by being selected as the preferred bidder in the tender scheduled for Nov. 7.

They announced on Oct. 21 that they would participate in the tender as a strategic investor and a financial investor, respectively.

Stonebridge Capital is regarding the consortium as the best combination in that Aekyung Group is successfully running Jeju Air and its know-how can further contribute to the local aviation industry via the acquisition of Asiana Airlines. Stonebridge Capital purchased 10 percent of Aekyung Industry Co., the group's flagship company, two years ago.

Aekyung had discussions with multiple reliable financial investors before choosing to hold hands with Stonebridge Capital. Its choice, which is based on its experience of collaboration with Stonebridge Capital, is an expression of its will to acquire Asiana Airlines.
