In Partnership with China Unicom

LG Uplus provides a 5G telecom roaming service in China in partnership with China Unicom.

LG Uplus announced on Sept. 16 that it has partnered with China Unicom, a Chinese mobile operator, to provide a 5G telecom roaming service in China.

LG Uplus started a tentative 5G roaming service in China from midnight on Sept. 16. The service will be officially launched in late September when China Unicom officially launches its 5G services.

China Unicom is one of the three largest telecommunications companies in China.

LG Uplus and China Unicom have been conducting 5G roaming tests in China since June. They reached an agreement on 5G roaming in April. They completed the integration of their pilot networks on Aug. 16.

The 5G roaming service will be provided to users of the LG Electronics V50 ThinQ smartphone ahead of others. Future software upgrades will support the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10.
