Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor broke into the top 10 in a U.S. consumer loyalty survey. In particular, Samsung Electronics took first place in the smartphone segment, beating Apple.

Samsung Electronics (smartphone) claimed third place in the 2019 Loyalty Leaders 100 announced by Brand Keys, a market research firm based in New York. While Amazon (online retail) and Google (search engine) retained first and second place, respectively, Samsung Electronics climbed three notches from seventh place in the previous year.

The top 10 club also included Amazon (tablets), Apple (tablets), Netflix (video streaming), Amazon (video streaming), Apple (smartphones), Trade Joe (food retail), and Hyundai Motor (cars).

Samsung Electronics fell behind Apple (third) in the survey a year ago, but overtook it this year. Hyundai Motor broke into the top 10 by rising four steps in the car category. Samsung Electronics also came in 45th in the computer category, up by eight notches from last year.

LG Electronics (smartphones) rose by two notches to 41st place. Kia Motors became one of the “Loyalty Winners” as its ranking rose by 10 notches from 68th last year to 58th this year.

These rankings were based on the results of a Brand Keys survey of 55,115 adults aged 16 to 65 about 921 brands in 110 industries in the United States in August.
