A Flexible 3D Light for Automobiles

An LG Innotek employee shows “Nexlide-HD,” a flexible 3D light for cars.

LG Innotek announced on Aug. 28 that it has developed "Nexlide-HD," a flexible 3D light for automobiles.

This product is a vehicle lighting component made by attaching several LED packages to a thin board, and is characterized by being softly bended like rubber. The hexahedron product is used as a light source to be mounted on vehicle exterior lamps such as a daytime running lamp or a taillight.

In particular, Nexlide-HD is the industry's first product of its kind that produces even light from five sides except the contact surface of a substrate. The company applied an LED package and its own optical design technology to spread light 180 degrees.

This product can be applied not only to rear lights as well as daytime running lamps (DRLs) on the front of a vehicle. In addition, when used in a vehicle exterior lamp, the lamp can become 30 percent slimmer than current products.
