LG Products Recognized for Designs

The Signature OLED TV R from LG Electronics

LG Electronics' products, including the world's first rollable TV, the LG Signature OLED TV R, have been recognized for their design competitiveness.

LG Electronics announced on Aug. 22 that it took home 13 prizes including two gold awards and one silver award at the IDEA 2019 organized by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The IDEA is called one of the world's top three design awards along with the Red Dot Design Awards and the iF Design Awards.

Of the 1,700 entries, LG Electronics' Signature OLED TV R and Premium Ceiling Fan each won a gold award, the highest honor. Thus, the Signature OLED TV R which had previously won prizes at the Red Dot Design Awards and iF Design Awards swept prizes of the world's top three design awards.

LG's Premium Ceiling Fan was loaded with biomimetic technology based on the fin of a humpback whale. The unique hump in front of the pectoral fin of a humpback whale creates a swimmable water stream. LG Electronics reduced turbulence and noises generated by the rotation of the blades of the fan by creating similar small bumps on the fan blades.

The user experience (UX) of the Signature OLED TV R nabbed a silver prize. Judges said that Pull View which allows users to watch a 65-inch full screen, Line View that exposes only a portion of the screen, and Zero View where the screen is completely pushed down suggested new user experiences that could not be offered by current TV models.
