'Dream Scholarship' for Students in Need

S-Oil CEO Hussain A. Al-Qahtani (center) delivers “2019 S-OIL Dream Scholarship” to officials of the Seondeogwon childcare institution in Seoul on Aug. 8.

S-OIL has delivered a total of 330 million won in “2019 S-OIL Dream Scholarship” to a childcare center in Seoul.

The company announced on Aug. 8 that it awarded the scholarship to Seondeogwon in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The recipients were 135 high school students and undergraduates from the childcare center and the Seondeog Choir.

Since 2016, S-OIL has donated a total of 1.2 billion won in scholarship to 485 students to help them study and be financially independent.

The recipients included 60 undergraduates who study machinery, electronics and chemical engineering at technical colleges. They are given 2.5 million won each and will continue to receive the scholarship until their graduation.

Additionally, 2 million won was awarded to each of the 75 high school students to help them gain technical skills and get a certificate of competence in heavy equipment, computer, hair design and baking.

S-OIL Dream Scholarship is not a onetime support program. It is intended to offer learning and education opportunities for students in childcare centers to grow into a healthy citizen in a stable environment.

“Education helps young talents unlock their potential and find opportunities to create their own future. We would like to help students become meaningful members of society and get a step closer to their dreams,” said the company’s CEO Hussain A. Al-Qahtani at the award ceremony.
