Start Your Travel in Korea with Airport Railroad Express Train

For travelers who arrive at Incheon International Airport, a convenient way to travel to Seoul Station is to use Airport Railroad Express Train.

Airport Railroad (AREX) is the most preferred means of transportation by travelers when they go from Incheon International Airport to Seoul. In May this year, it broke the peak load record of 313,224 people per day and grew over 2,271 percent compared to 2007, the first year of service. Travelers can enjoy the Yellow Sea, islands, tidal flats, and the Han River aboard the train.

Airport Railroad Express Train goes directly from Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station unlike normal subways. Travelers can reserve a seat aboard the train. Their ticket has a designated seat number. There are crew members on the train to check the safety and inconveniences of the passengers, and provide free bottles of mineral water upon request. Passengers with children can use the toilets aboard the train. It takes 43 minutes from Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station, and the price for one-way trip is 9,500 won for adults (including 500 won of deposit).

Customers who purchase an integrated ticket at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and 2 station can transfer to major tourist attractions in Seoul such as Myeongdong, Namdaemun, and Dongademun without purchasing a separate ticket at Seoul Station. The integrated ticket can be purchased at the Customer Service Center and ticket machines, and an online reservation service will be provided from 2020.

The train service also offers various discount options. A ticket is discounted to 7,500 won per person when a group of three people or more use the train, and the same policy applies when passengers show their international flight tickets of Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, T’way Air, Eastar Jet, and Jin Air to the Customer Service Center. Also, passengers who plan to use the express train back to the airport can receive a discount of 1,500 won by providing the train ticket used to leave the airport.

Another special benefit for the passengers who use the express train is the check-in service at the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal. Located in the second basement of Seoul Station, the terminal offers early check-in to the passengers who will take Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, T’way Air, Eastar Jet, and Jin Air. Passengers can depart from Incheon International Airport faster using the designated exit when they complete the departure process at Seoul Station.
