A Strategy to Enter Middle East Market

Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development Director Ahmed Hilal Al-Baloushi makes a presentation on the economic situation in Abu Dhabi.

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held a seminar on investment in the UAE Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) at the Trade Tower in Samseong-dong, Seoul, on June 11.

The seminar, co-hosted by KIZAD, introduced the UAE industrial zone and Abu Dhabi, exemplary companies that have entered the zone, and Abu Dhabi’s support policies.

"KIZAD provides the best infrastructure for business revitalization, including investor support and cluster management," said Khalid Almarzooqi, KIZAD commercial director. "It will be a new opportunity for Korean companies that wish to enter the Middle East market," he added.

Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development Director Ahmed Hilal Al-Baloushi said, "Through social networking services (SNS), the popularity of Korean consumer goods such as cosmetics is increasing in Abu Dhabi," adding, "In addition to cosmetics, it would be good to promote Korean products such as processed food, fashion and accessories through major online distribution channels. This is an effective way to enter the Middle East market."

"Many of the countries in the Middle East are making great efforts to achieve industrial development in order to escape from excessive dependence on resources such as energy," said Chu Min-seok, head of the Middle East and Africa Division of the Korea International Trade Association. “I look forward to seeing Korean companies more actively enter the Middle East region, starting with KIZAD," he said.
