The World's Largest Floating LNG Platform

Commercial LNG production has started at Prelude FLNG, the world's largest floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) platform set up in Australia.

Korea Gas Corp. (KOOGAS) announced on June 11 that it has completed its first LNG production and shipment at Prelude FLNG, the world's largest floating liquefied natural gas platform established in Australia.

KOGAS has a 10 percent stake in the Prelude project. Operators of the platform began to sell condensate in March and started production and shipment of LNG on June 11.

The Prelude project is a massive upstream and downstream integrated LNG project that produces liquefied natural gas (LNG) at an underwater gas field 475 km northwest of Broome, Australia. Participants in the project include KOGAS, Shell, Inpex of Japan and OPIC of Taiwan.

The FLNG platform was built by Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. It will produce 3.6 million tons of LNG, 400,000 tons of LPG and 1.3 million tons of condensate annually. KOGAS has secured 360,000 tons of LNG annually.
