Still Trying to Fix Display Problems

It seems that Samsung Electronics needs more time to fix the display problems of the Galaxy Fold.

It seems that Samsung Electronics needs more time to fix the display problems of the Galaxy Fold. The company told its U.S. customers on May 6 (U.S. time) that it would provide them with specific shipping information “in the coming weeks.”

According to the U.S. IT media CNET, Samsung Electronics sent an e-mail to U.S. customers who have pre-ordered the foldable smartphone, saying “We’ll update you with more specific shipping information in the coming weeks."

The e-mail came after Samsung Electronics said it will provide information on the release date within two weeks to pre-booking customers immediately after announcing the delay of the Galaxy fold release on April 22.

"We are making progress in enhancing the Galaxy Fold to make sure it measures up to the high standards we know you expect from us," Samsung Electronics said in the e-mail. "This means we cannot confirm the anticipated ship date yet," the company said.

The Galaxy Ford was originally scheduled to be released in the U.S. on April 26, but its release was delayed due to the issue of poor screen quality in products provided for review.

As Samsung Electronics did not reveal a specific release date even after two announcements, it is expected that there will be a long delay in releasing the Galaxy Fold. Industry watchers believe that the delay could be one to two weeks or longer than a month.

"The top and bottom displays have been damaged by exposure shocks and foreign substances," Samsung Electronics said in a conference call that was held after the announcement of its first-quarter earnings. “We have changed the ship date to find ways to prevent the damage and make the product perfect. The changed release schedule will be announced and communication with customers will be strengthened on how to use it,” it said.
