Targeting Global Market

LG Innotek has launched the 3D sensing module brand “InnoXensing.”

LG Innotek announced on May 1 that it has launched the 3D sensing module brand “InnoXensing.” The move is intended to project LG Innotek as a company specializing in 3D sensing.

A 3D sensing module recognizes the three-dimensional effect, spatial information, and movement of an object by calculating the distance using the time it takes for light emitted from the camera to reflect back. The 3D sensing module sector is growing fast as 3D sensing modules enable smartphones, cars and other devices to perform biometric authentication and motion recognition.

InnoXensing is a combination of “Innovation,” “Xs” in “eXcellent,” “eXtream” and eXperience” and “Sensing” in 3D sensing. The company said the brand means innovative 3D sensing technology that provides customers with ultimate dramatic experiences.

LG Innotek plans to preempt the early market of 3D sensing modules by adding brand power to global leading technology.

The InnoXensing logo can also be used on finished products such as cameras and AVMs loaded with LG Innotek's 3D sensing modules and software products such as applications which power LG Innotek's 3D sensing modules. LG Innotek is planning to promote the brand by joining forces with global software companies.

Global market researcher Yole Development estimated the worldwide 3D image processing and sensing device market in 2018 at US$2.9 billion and forecast that the market would grow to US$9 billion in 2022.

LG Innotek is actively penetrating the 3D sensing market based on its technological prowess and rich business know-how in camera modules. Recently, the company supplied time-of-flight (ToF) modules for 3D sensing for the LG G8 ThinQ to LG Electronics.
