CEO Change

KT Chairman Hwang Chang-kyu officially took office as the CEO of KT on January 27.

“I will combine my experience in the global business field and know-how in national R&D projects with the day-to-day business of KT, so that the company can become the very leader of the telecoms industry of Korea,” he said at the inauguration speech. “We need to provide unprecedented high-quality services for our customers by challenging the status quo, while creating new and successful convergence business models for global market penetration.”

He continued to emphasize, “At the same time, I hope that all employees will better communicate with each other, so that the entire company can become one, and more rights will be given to the staff in direct contact with our customers for more efficient services.”

Many in the industry are paying keen attention to how the new CEO will deal with the hard feelings between the staff and executive members and boost its business performance, which has fallen short of its competitors.
