Doosan Infracore has succeeded in remotely operating an excavator in Incheon, Korea, from Munich, Germany, using 5G communication technology.

Doosan Group announced on April 9 that Doosan Infracore demonstrated construction machine remote control technology based on 5G telecommunications at the Bauma 2019 Show, a construction machinery exhibition in Munich, Germany. It was the first time in the European market. The company cooperated with LG U+ for the demonstration.

Doosan Infracore remotely controlled an excavator in Incheon, Korea, from the 5G Remote Control Station in Munich, Germany, which was about 8,500 km away from the Korean city.

Doosan Infracore successfully demonstrated 880 km-long cross-border remote control with real equipment for the first time in the world at the Shanghai Construction Machinery Exhibition in China last year.

The latest demonstration has proven the company’s technological ability to remotely control construction machinery from anywhere in the world. Doosan Infracore is developing 5G telecommunication-based remote control technology for construction machinery by using LG U+'s low latency video transmission devices.
