STX Heavy Industries announced on January 15 that it signed the final contract two days ago with the Dubai office of Petronas for the construction of gas processing facilities in Iraq. The contract amount is approximately US$100 million.

According to the contract, STX Heavy is to build gas facilities to supply the fuel gas currently under production in the Garraf Oil Field to nearby power stations.

The project is scheduled to be in progress on an EPC basis and completed in late November 2015. Earlier on January 3, STX Heavy Industries won the Akkas Pipeline Project in Iraq at a cost of 500 billion won (US$470 million) and a 43 billion won (US$40 million) order for wet desulfurization facilities in Khabat in December last year.
