Hyundai Motor Group ranked fourth in the European passenger car market in January of 2019.

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors sold a total of 82,667 units in the European passenger car market in January, up 0.5 percent from a year earlier, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) and Hyundai Motor Group showed.

Hyundai Motor Group placed fourth in the new car market following Volkswagen Group (286,693 units), PSA Group (206,521 units) and Renault Group (117,393 units). In January of 2018, FCA Group and Ford came in fourth and fifth respectively, while Hyundai Motor Group placed sixth.

As a result, Hyundai Motor Group's share of the European new car market jumped to 6.7 percent this year from 6.4 percent in January 2018. In January of 2019, Hyundai Motor sold 40,427 units, down 0.9 percent from a year earlier, but Kia Motors registered a 2.2 percent increase by selling 38,040 units. As a consequence, the automotive group’s total sales edged up in the month.
