Expanding Presence in Chinese Market

Doosan Infracore will supply 36 excavators to a Chinese mining company.

The company has signed a contract with Mongshin Coal Co., a leading Chinese mining company in Inner Mongolia, to supply 36 excavators -- six units of the DX800, an 80-ton super large excavator, 20 units of the DX520, a 52-ton excavator, and 10 units of the DX380, a 38-ton excavator.

Monshin Coal mines about 20 million tons of coal in four mines annually. The company is a large corporate customer that operates more than 100 excavators and 30 wheel loaders. The company had used other companies’ products but, this time, decided to purchase Doosan Infracore products after test operations over the past two months.

Doosan Infracore is planning to further expand its presence in the Chinese mid- and large-sized excavator market. Up to now, the company has focused on small- to mid-sized excavator products that weigh 30 tons or less. But it has increased the percentage of mid- to large-sized excavator sales since last year.

The proportion of mid- to large-sized excavators in the company's sales rose from 35 percent in the third quarter of 2017 to 40 percent in the same period of 2018.

"In particular, the 80-ton super-large excavator is a flagship model developed through Doosan Infracore’s latest technology," a Doosan Infracore official said. “Demand for the product has been on a steady rise amid positive responses from the market since its launch in 2017."
