A Popular Fun-filled Outdoor Activity in Tongyeong

Tourists enjoy Luge rides at Skyline Luge Tongyeong, which was selected as one of Korea's "100 Must-visit Tourist Spots."

Skyline Luge Tongyeong has been named as one of Korea’s "100 Must-visit Tourist Spots (100 MVTS)." The top 100 list is compiled every two years by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, who select and honor the 100 best tourist spots in Korea.

The 100 MVTS accolade is a tremendous achievement for Skyline given the attraction has only been open since 2017. It was also the only tourist spot to make the list representing Tongyeong City, a beautiful port city on Korea's southern coast.

Korea’s first ever Luge, Skyline Luge Tongyeong, sits directly on the beautiful Mt. Mireuk in Tongyeong overlooking the South Sea and offers a fun-filled outdoor activity, popular with both domestic and foreign visitors. Guests can ride a Luge cart on specially designed tracks which include twists, turns and tunnels. In its first year of operation Skyline recorded more than 1.9 million rides.

James Dudfield, general manager of Skyline Luge Tongyeong, said, “We’re really happy to receive such great news at the beginning of 2019 and want to say a big thank you to everyone for their support of the Skyline Luge. We’re also very excited to see we were one of the few attractions to make the highly regarded 100 Must-visit list.”

The 100 MVTS were determined as part of a rigorous selection process that considered representativeness, attractiveness, future growth probability and quality management.

Since inventing the Luge in 1985, Skyline Luge International has spent more than 30 years refining its product. The company hosts more than seven million Luge rides annually, across the globe. Skyline has spread to six international locations with more in the pipeline, including Skyline Luge Busan due to open in 2020/21.

Dudfield added, “Skyline is committed to continuous improvement of its track and cart designs, as well as customer experience and safety measures. From the assessment standards of 100 MVTS we can see people highly regard Skyline’s representativeness and future growth probability, which is fantastic to hear. It’s been a great start to the year and we’re looking forward to hosting more guests in 2019.”
